(34,189 posts)What we don't know is if the jury hung on what level of charge for the murder of Jordan Davis or if any of the jurors bought into Dunn's claim that Davis had a weapon. If any jurors believed that, then Dunn's claim of self defense may have factored in.
As for the level of charge, I can't believe that a juror would hold out for first degree if the rest were willing to convict on second degree. I suspect there was enough doubt about Dunn's belief that his life was in danger that a juror or two hung the murder charge.
I hope the prosecutors talk to the jurors to find out what they can do next time to convict Dunn. For the public, it would be interesting to hear from the jurors, but I don't want them to come out publicly if it would affect a re-trial.
