(28,469 posts)What I'd call a cult and what you would more than likely differs. Since this "Christian Church" has over 600,000 in the U.S., it's not considered a cult in a strict sense.
According to wiki: "A cult is a religious group or other organization with deviant and novel beliefs and practices. However, whether any particular group's beliefs are sufficiently deviant or novel enough to be considered a cult is often unclear, and thus establishing a precise definition of cults is problematic."
To cloister children in the fashion they do is cultish to me. And harmful. They use their ideology to explain everything. Plus, all these people are raving, facts-be-damn Republicans.
When one guy sees an invisible man, he's a nut case.
When ten people see him, it's a cult.
When ten million people see him, it's a respected religion.
