(18,375 posts)but my wife wanted me to take my daughters on dates and give them what was effectively a purity ring. I politely declined. I spend lots of time with my daughters (especially at dog agility, going to museums/zoos, and watching science fiction movies with them as well as extensive tutoring), but I would never think to do something like this. I want to spend time with them, but doing wholesome activities. Soon my oldest will be off to college, and I am excited by the new challenge in her life.
There is a good chance a big push for this is coming from the mom's side as well if my experience is any indication. The fathers would be more helpful just letting their daughters know that they are loved, tell them that they pray (hope) someone comes into their lives who treats them with respect, and that their father will always be there when needed with love no matter what happens. Now fly away little birdie and experience your own life.
