Some loons with too much time on their hands have gotten a drone through some outfit that sells them. They have adapted it to carry bright but light-weight lights around.
It could be some fool outlaw hunters who freeze deer with lights and then shoot them.

Before all of you take off in fits of laughter and snark, not all of the people who live on those back roads are uneducated doofs. My cousin has a masters in microbiology and another has a masters in civil engineering. Even before they got educated, they could repair almost anything and rig up 'interesting' contraptions.

This kind of tomfoolery would be right up their alley. They would love to take that out when some of my relatives who have fewer brain cells venture into the woods and scare then shite out of them.
