Same goes for that hideous neologistic security blanket "disrespect".
The quote does not even tangentially touch the question of whether an omnipotent god sent himself to Earth to be sacrificed to himself to help people he created himself avoid falling foul of a rule he created himself.
If it did, it would not ridicule the idea. The rules of Deuteronomy either apply still or they don't depending on how you understand "not one jot or tittle" and what it means that the "kingdom" comes. They don't ridicule your preference. If they apply to you in your belief, stick to them and be proud. If they don't, ignore them and references to them as anachronisms. There's no ridicule either way.
Do you really "choose" to believe? Could you choose not to believe, say, until 9pm and then choose to believe again? I couldn't do that in reverse.
