(371 posts)And Deuteronomy was written as the Jews had been exiled to wander 40 years. The rules God gave them to continue their lives were very harsh. A lot of the old testament shows a very vengeful and wrathful God. It wasn't until He sent His son Jesus to earth to die for the sins of man that humanity truly had the opportunity to be saved, simply by making the choice to follow him. And that is the point in the bible where everything takes a huge turn.
That is the TRUE context of the scripture. To portray that scripture in order to ridicule Christianity is (obviously) a COMPLETE misuse of that scripture.
Seriously, you don't see the blatant disrespect in that? I know, I know, you are agnostic/non-christian/atheist, whatever. But what is the point of disrespecting christians? Where is the worth in that? Fun? Entertainment? My choice of faith is not based on a couple of scriptures. I was baptized before I read very much of the bible at all. It is a personal decision that I made in how I want to live my life.
