(10,437 posts)The Bibles I see in Christian churches, bookstores and homes all include Deuteronomy. There is a truly trivial level of communication coming from any Christian group that eschews either it or the OT in general. Christian churches continue to cite and use OT scripture in services, in press releases and debates, on billboards and signage. If being reminded of what it says bother you, then dump it utterly. Don't pick and choose when it can and can't be used, or by whom, depending on whether it offends modern liberal sensitivity or not. It's either holy scripture or it isn't.
Besides, I can think of several far more "disrespectful" passages in the epistles. Is quoting them "disrespectful" too?
What's the point of pointing out the hypocrisy of Christianity (I'll assume you wrote hastily and actually know the difference between "disrespecting" people, and doing so to ideas)? Because its followers never ever seem to stop wanting to force it into law and societal secular morality. Just follow it yourself and keep it away from impinging on my life and I'll return the favor.
