1. Doing this by state is obviously too coarse.

Obviously NY is blue because of all the people who walk to work in NYC. But making the entire state blue is kind of misleading. And Illinois and Wisconsin are probably only in the 3 to 3.9 category because of people walking to work in Chicago and Milwaukee.

And am I alone in finding Alaska a little baffling here?
