I'd say that progressives feel it's their duty to advocate progressive policies and criticize policies they believe are damaging. That's not the same thing as criticizing someone for the sake of trashing Dems and if you looked more closely, you'd see that there are a fair few people on this board who aren't happy with the Dem leadership but who don't believe they eat live babies, or even dead ones.

Nor are the progressives I know "appalled" by criticism. In my experience, they're resigned to it. That doesn't mean they'll leap up with gladness to support politicians who have dismissed their concerns in the past and will likely do so in the future.
