(20,450 posts)make him/her feel guilty of racist thoughts, so he/she uses the "he was just crazy" argument as a smokescreen to shut people down. The NRA hides behind the "mental illness" argument and it does such a disservice to those who truly struggle with mental health issues.
OP: stop hiding behind the mental illness banner because it weakens your argument.
This killer wrote anti-women manifestos. He clearly hated women. He felt entitled to women's bodies. He wrote entire treatise (I forget the plural form of the word) on women and sexual entitlement and possession of women's bodies. His issue was with women. He hated men who were sexually successful with women. That's it.
You must, at some point, home to grips with the fact that misogyny exists and was the underlying cause of this young man's issues; it was what drove him over the edge.
It looks like YOU are the one who is attempting to exploit political ideology for YOUR own end--to thwart discussion of a very real and critical topic: hatred directed at women. Rather than trying to stifle discussion by red herring you should listen to women and learn from their/our experiences and not sweep them under the rug as you're attempting to do.
