In reply to the discussion: More gun madness - Florida 6 yr old kills his grandpa with AK 47.... [View all]dionysus
(26,467 posts)33. why, apparently, is it so hard for these clowns to practice gun safety?
first off, it's a party with booze; gun should have never come out of the house. at all.
second, you don't set a gun down on the picnic table where a kid (or anyone for that matter) can just pick it up. I've seen otherwise rational adults who were drunk find a gun and be like "ooh, look at this! and start playing with it)
and even if this idiot still did 1 & 2, why on earth didn't he eject the magazine and clear the chamber.
leaving a gun out like that is negligent enough.. but to leave it there sitting loaded?!?!? despite his gross negligence, this tragedy could have been avoided if he made sure it was empty or had a trigger lock on it.

The AK was for self protection. He saw the way the people at the next table eyed his ribs.

And the kid will probably become a gangbanger now that he has his first kill

Not to quibble but... hardly anyone uses an AK-47 for deer. And no rifles in many locations.

Well yeah and the guy whose gun it was should have picked it right back up.
