The most frequently cited study from 2004, in between copyright cases and increases in media interest, found that about 10% of those who self identified as Native American found it offensive.

In 2004, the National Annenberg Election Survey asked 768 people who identified themselves as Indian whether they found the name “Washington Redskins” offensive. Almost 90 percent said it did not bother them.

I'm not saying that the percentage matters but it probably isn't accurate to say that they have a strong majority. Maybe they do and it has changed in 10 years...
