(36,392 posts)for-profit companies are required by law to serve their shareholders first. The very idea of for-profit healthcare is a paradox, or oxymoron if you will. Like it or not, the ACA does not help with this.
I should stay out of these threads that contain emotional defenses of the president. What I am seeing is that, as I am sure the insurance companies predicted, the president's defenders are dug in so deeply that they now think Heritage Care is the solution. 20% or more profits are actually being cheered by Dems. As a person whose employer-provided plan just went up by 10% of my annual pay, whose spouse works in healthcare and has to deal with the insurance death panels every day, who has nearly 10 years to go until Medicare, and who remembers how awful this plan sounded when Gingrinch rolled it out 20 years ago, I just can't get on the bandwagon.
