(19,964 posts)The only "dividing and conquering" I see being done around here are by those who just dropped by to say that the efforts of those who are protesting don't mean crap, that what and why they're protesting doesn't mean crap, that those protesting are politically naïve and aren't working for political change on many fronts, et al. Have I missed anything?
I'll tell you what I saw at a local protest. I saw passersby energized enough to park their cars and join in the protest. I saw people signing up with WORD (Women Organized to Resist and Defend) to stay informed on political action. I saw women and men making contacts and sharing their ideas and goals. I witnessed people who stopped solely to ask questions about the SC decision and what it means.
Motivation? Ask DUer Davsand, his 17 year old daughter and five of her young friends who took to the streets on July 4th to show people what freedom of speech and standing up for your rights is all about.
I think it's a sad day for DU when people here took to the streets and took a stand for their rights only to be trashed by others on a supposedly "progressive forum".
