(27,275 posts)i wish i could find the link. it started with ted koppel asking a group of white people about black people. most were of the opinon that black people had some advantage in society that they did not have, e.g., affirmative action. then koppel asked them who much money they would need to "turn black" and take advantage of the perceived perks of blackness. every person said they would need millions of dollars to be black...and why? because of the shit that black people had to deal with. the disconnect, dissonance of whatever you want to call it was stunning. as i recall, koppel replicated a study done by a professor in a classroom, with the exact same results. first...the denial, then the acknowledgement.
