6. I lived through that era, and don't remember that...but I remember plenty of other incidents

that occurred solely to put women in their place. And to think that, 50 years later, within many people's living memory, women still have to remind people that this shit happened every day! And that women who lived through that stuff may not have such a sanguine view of men and their recent attempts to put us right back in the shit. Younger women seem to think it could never happen to them, but us older women know better.
