(53,029 posts)As I said to another poster who asked, it's kind of like socialists with lady parts. Most of the members are somewhere to the left of liberal feminists. Some consider themselves radical feminists, others consider themselves Marxist feminists, and still others will define themselves differently. Liberal feminism is defined as a focus on gradual change through the legislative and legal process. Radical feminism seeks the destruction of patriarchy and gender norms, whereas Marxist feminism sees gender inequality as related to exploitation of capitalism.
Around here, the basic break down seems to fall under people telling HOF feminists that stuff they care about--like rape, domestic violence, cultural images, social reproduction, etc.--doesn't matter. The problem is I have yet to see an issue related to women those people claim does matter. Few had anything to say about the Hobby Lobby decision. If that isn't important, what is?
On the other site, they seem to think HOF members' posting views amounts to bullying and disruption. Liberals, apparently, aren't supposed to be exposed to ideas about misogyny and gender violence. Why, I can't begin to say. Why they can't use trash thread or ignore poster also hasn't been explained to me.
