3. I debated signing this, and opted against it.

Emmy is a trained police dog. No insult to the man who loves her, but she is a VALUABLE asset anywhere she goes, and the town probably spent a great deal of money on getting her that way. I am sure her handler worked with her while that was happening, too, but he was receiving a salary / not donating his time, so his salary is also part of the expense of training her.

Unless she is retiring to become a family pet, she needs to continue doing her job. In a perfect world (assuming her handler is staying in law enforcement), his "next job" would pay to bring her along with him.

I feel bad for everyone involved -- I know he will miss her, but she is more than "FAMILY" -- she is a very valuable professional working dog, and that makes her "more" than just a family pet.

I hope everyone can get it worked out, but I could not sign in support of him, when I felt the issues of respecting a professional working dog versus treating her like a family pet were in play.

(But this is a kick, so those who disagree with me can see and go sign, if they want! )
