This is what I don't understand about anyone that would hurt a 4 year old, they are at your mercy at all times. There is no justification for hitting. I grew up in the age of leather belts and never once did it cure me of wanting to make mischief. No matter what age, it just HURT.

Counseling probably would have done wonders.
