There were many groups from out of town who came in big buses.
I am local so was able to take the subway directly to the start of the march. Don't think it would have been easy to take the local bus. Traffic was, essentially, at a standstill throughout most of mid Manhattan.
My apartment overlooks Seventh Avenue on the way to the Holland Tunnel. Last evening the backup was momentous. Not sure if it was marchers or some problem in the tunnel. It was a sea of red brake lights. The organizers had requested that people not drive to the event but to use bikes, mass transit or group transport.
