9. You are correct the proclamation does not state "federal government" in its wording

So are you inferring that if Ron Paul were elected that not only would he end federal funding and regulation of schools but he'd pass a law telling the states they couldn't run schools either?

To be clear I do not support Ron Paul's goal to end the DOE. Nor am I a fan of private schools receiving federal money. I would like to see the DOE made more transparent and programs like "No child left behind " put to an end.

But I like to be factually correct if I'm going to discuss an issue and I don't think Ron Paul would end government involvement in education on the state and local level. This would be completely inconsistent with his pro states rights platform.

I know there is a huge list of things where Ron Paul is on the wrong side of an issue. As for the Citizen's United involvement it is again something I would extremely oppose. It is a big issue along with Social Security, Medicare, the ending of the DOE, EPA and other regulatory agencies where I would also be in direct opposition to Paul's views. Do I think the EPA and SEC need to be cleansed of corruption? Hell yes! But definitely not eliminated.

My goal in stating that Ron Paul was for abolishing the DOE and not for ending public education isn't to show support for the view but to make sure a claim is true in relation to what a candidate says and does. False accusations do not make for a good discussion with persons who understand otherwise.

Still I like a Republican candidate that is anti war and is not lock step with the neo con war mongers. He's not perfect but he's my opponent not my candidate. I still have some respect for John McCain and other Republicans. Does that mean I will agree and vote for them? Of course not. But I can still like and respect a person even if I disagree with them politically.
