Showing Original Post only (View all)Senator Claire McCaskill DISTANCES HERSELF From Obama, Senate Democrats [View all]
Appearing on CBSs Face the Nation, Senator Claire McCaskill (D) was asked about Obamas plan to use executive action regarding the deportation the families of illegal immigrants. Her response was short and bittersweet. Im not crazy about it. Later, McCaskill lambasted Speaker John Boehners refusal to bring up a bipartisan immigration reform bill in the House that was passed by the Senate. However, it is no secret that McCaskill is unhappy with both the leader of her party in the Senate and with President Barack Obamas plan to take unilateral action on immigration reform. McCaskill also said why she didnt vote for Harry Reid to be the Senate Minority: I think [the 2014 election] was a message from the American people, she said. Our party got walloped, and I think theyre saying we need to change what were doing, and I think change begins in leadership.
McCaskill also refused to praise Harry Reid or Elizabeth Warren, whom Reid has given a special position within the leadership ranks, saying that moderates like Senator Jon Tester of Montana were also given leadership ranks. The Senator from Missouri is also joining Senators Joe Manchin and Mary Landrieu on pushing to pass the Keystone Pipeline. I suggest McCaskill become a Republican. The Democrats need to get back to being progressive, and they need to band together, now more than ever. Im tired of conservative Democrats running away from what Democrats stand for because they fear they wont be re-elected. Democrats running from Obama? Isnt that why they lost the Senate? P.S. Obama won his re-election. America said YES to his agenda twice. And like all the others that distance themselves from Democratic principles and President Obamas accomplishments, and who tried to be more like Republicans, she will lose. And it will not be pretty for the Democrats.
