This, despite research that shows watchers of Fox News are genuinely less informed about factual matters than those who watch (or listen to) news from other sources. In short, lying is protected.

The only thing to hope for would be that someone could sue Fox and prove that their "news" shows did genuine harm. But I can hardly imagine such a suit being successful. For one thing, they can afford all the lawyers in the world, and in this country there is almost never any hurry to decide anything in court, which is why so many things drag on for years, and years.
