The DUI story was broken by a FOX affiliate on the Friday before the election.

On that same day, Senator Bob Kerrey had called a press conference to ask George W. Bush to EXPLAIN HIS ABSENCE FROM DUTY IN THE TEXAS AIR NATIONAL GUARD IN WARTIME.

That's right.

Kerrey had finally become concerned about the fact that the presidential candidate had been AWOL, and had concealed that.

Kerry called a press conference to call national attention to this.

Then FOX broke the DUI (which had likely been in Rove's back pocket waiting for the moment).

An epic dirty trick.
