In reply to the discussion: ISIS Says It Will Conquer Europe Soon, Undertake Religious Cleansing And Kill Ruthlessly [View all]stevenleser
(32,886 posts)I don't know if it is a reasonable scenario, but lets assume that ISIS is able to insert 50,000-100,000 of its folks each into the Muslim communities of France, Germany and the UK and these folks recruit as many of the locals as possible to their cause and start attempting to sabotage military installations, shoot at soldiers, bomb government buildings, attempt to assassinate officials and generally create havoc at the same time ISIS commences an invasion of lower Europe (the Balkans) through Turkey, which in our scenario it has also previously infiltrated and thus conquered.
ISIS would thus embroil the top militaries of Europe and their governments in internal concerns making it difficult for them to deploy to southern Europe to deal with ISIS at least initially.
Your comment seems to only take into account a standard war where two armies confront each other head to head on a 'front'. I doubt ISIS would present itself for slaughter so conveniently.
Could ISIS pull this off? I doubt it. But a year ago I would have doubted that ISIS could control half of both Syria and Iraq and threaten Baghdad.
