(10,893 posts)Point #2 in the first comment: Nobody in the Black community said that the world "revolves around us". All we have wanted for years is fairness and for other people (like that commenter) to quit behaving like insensitive assholes.
#3: It goes both ways--learn how to treat people right and not be so self-centered when it comes to other people's needs and feelings. You want Blacks to stop complaining about racism and unfairness? Stop acting that way!
#4: This sounds like something straight off of FOX. For starters, this "generous welfare state" typically doesn't even provide enough for a family to live on per month or pay rent with. This person sounds like the typical wingnut who thinks that a person has to be dirt-poor and with literally nothing in order to qualify for help. Also, obviously not all families have access to clean water, heating, etc., and our healthcare is still expensive compared to other 1st world nations. Our so-called welfare state is nowhere near as generous as that of Scandinavia, for example.
As far as the second comment goes, these groups shouldn't even be needed on a supposedly progressive/Democratic website, but they are. The reason why is because not everyone on this site has been receptive to the concerns of feminists and minorities. Rarely does a related thread get posted in GD anymore without a handful of posters derailing it and calling people who they disagree with "extremist" just for speaking out. The same thing also applies to the need for a BOG on a site that supposedly supports Democrats. Whenever a person in GD posts something Pres. O accomplished that progressives would generally support, there are frequently one or more posters making "well, that's not enough/too late/we forced him to do it..." types of comments, and DUers get called "third-way", "cheerleaders", and other BS.
And this:
would be sort of the antithesis to what DU is about. It would be like me going on KKK or Stormfront's sites, demanding a discussion on Black issues.
This 2nd comment sounded like it not only came from a wingnut dumbass troll, but someone who is clearly obsessed with Black people for whatever reason--to troll the AA group that hard.
