(6,926 posts)I grew up with the guilt of what white southerners had said and done. I went to college and learned that horrific bigotry was not isolated to the south. I traveled some in the country and saw and heard it happen.
Now I see horrific racism in public officials, police departments, churches, teachers, doctors and pretty much every aspect of life. I did not expect to see it here in DU. I could not finish reading that post. I do not need to learn what racists think. I have known about it for all of my life. As a white person I have spoken my mind and pointed out behaviors and probably isolated myself from some people.
I no longer feel guilty for the words and acts of other citizens. I feel rage, sadness and horror, but I am not that kind of person and I will not share responsibility because we read and post in the same place.
Please continue efforts to block and remove hate filled words from people who need our pity for their small minded thoughts. They do not have my pity, they only have my disgust.
