Acting like this is some reasonably expressed counter-view is the equivalent of saying that FOX news does not twist the truth and is just a "conservative alternative" to actual news and real facts. Most of the "points" in this "letter" have been debunked over and over. What kind of liberal community allows bullshit lies, misconceptions, and outdated assumptions to run rampant?

I feel like the creators of DU are just tired of what they built and are trying to slowly drown it. How else can you explain creating an alternate group where members are encouraged to come over here and tear a community apart with horrific attacks like this?

I came here after the horrible Gore-Bush fiasco because I wanted to be with like-minded people and that's not something I'm privileged to experience in my day-to-day life. Much of my questioning and changing and adjusting of my own assumptions, bias, and prejudice happened because of this place. It would not happen if I stumbled onto this site in its current state, and that just makes me sad.
