(19,558 posts)One of which was people who after reading the actual real definitions of racism and bigotry saw shades of themselves in those definitions. Which by itself is a good thing if you learn and grow as a person when have such a discovery. However, some people prefer to insulate themselves within the same thinking they've always had, and still consider themselves as not having believed, done, or said any racist or bigoted things. Which meant, to them, you had to be wrong so they could continue to happily delude themselves.
Another of which is the posters here who use others lack of understanding on such things as a means to game the system. Alluding to, but not outright saying something racist/bigoted, and/or posting things they know are going to be viewed as racist/bigoted by specific members here they're targeting, then feigning innocence when someone calls them on it because it didn't fit the definition of racism/bigotry the link they'll provide for you states.
Of those two types; only the first one is worth trying to reach, they already know, or at least suspect on some level, that their thinking isn't right. With time they can sometimes admit their mistake. The second one is just here to troll for the 'lulz' of it, they're not worth the effort of anything beyond a well written alert.
I hope this makes some sense. I currently have a virus and am taking some things for the symptoms which do tend to cause my synapses to misfire a bit.
