(11,619 posts)choices were reprehensible. They understand that it matters who has the agenda. Republicans actually understand that the parties are different and vote for a Republican because that is what they think benefits them. Any voter that went out and voted for Democrats were responsible citizens that understand how the government works.
People who did not show up and make a choice are irresponsible at best.
Nobody gets exactly what they want. Often, the choices in an election are not our preferred candidate. But no matter who they are, one of those candidates will be marginally better than the other. And if two clones run on different tickets, then it really matters which side is in the majority. The majority sets the agenda.
People who want progressive or liberal polices should attempt to understand how our system works. It matters who is in power. Democrats will never pass a bill that most progressives or liberals will fall in love with, but they will pass a bill that will do some of the things they want and need done, if they have the power to set the agenda.
A progressive or liberal who wants to get things done will vote in every election, no matter what.
If they don't, they are neither progressive nor liberal.
