In reply to the discussion: Did Sarah Palin Just Say 'F%@# You' To Michael Moore? [View all]KingCharlemagne
(7,908 posts)91. I can't single out a specific figure off the top of my head. But I know that the mainstream
Communist and Socialist factions in this country and around the world take a very strong line against sexism and have done so since at least the late 1950s.
Here, for example, is the current Communist Party-USA's statement on sexism:
We make the fight for equality an important part of every struggle we fight. The Communist Party fights for full equality for people of all races, for women and men, straight people and LGBT, for speakers of all languages, for young people and older people, and for people of all religious beliefs or none. The U.S. working class includes millions of immigrant workers. We stand for full rights for these workers, regardless of their documentation status. We believe in equality because it is just and right. Even more, the fight for equality is key to uniting the working class into a powerful force for the changes we need.

One of the raps against the so-called "New Left" during the 60s and early 70s was that it continued to promote the patriarchy and sexism among its various iterations (like SDS and the Black Panthers). Please do note that the CP-USA has come in for recent criticism from even harder-line Marxist organizations because of its willingness to work with the Democrats and the bourgeoisie in general
I'm relying on some distant and vague memories here and will have to brush up a bit on my specifics. In the meantime, this article is a good general survey of the topic:

Actually, we always could. The question, tho, is whether we should. I would still say "no," because
