(45,251 posts)He vetoed at the rate of 300 bills a year, average. And they overrode most. It was relatively hostile to him, too.
He was a lousy Governor anyway. It was pretty clear he ran only so he could get an elected office in a blue state under his belt before declaring for the Presidency. To that end, he left the state house often to make himself known to Republican groups. While with them, the guy who was supposed to be the state's being booster dissed us until our newpapers finally called him it out for it.
And, when part of a Big Dig tunnel fell and killed a woman, the people he chose to explain the issue to him were the same people who had built it, who happened to be donors of his.
But I am not sure you can blame the entire state economy on him, I am sorry to say.
