I am sorry I didn't take your plight more seriously at the time, but we have had cases here where a person with a medical emergency has chosen to come to DU instead of a doctor -- sometimes wasting hours and in one case, days, before leaving the keyboard and getting in their car to take action. They literally put themselves at risk for death, you understand.
We also have some drama queens who post while drunk and irrational.
DUers can provide sympathy, but they cannot provide medical help, legal aid, or physical protection.
Conversely, DUers can be very cruel and dismissive, especially in GD.
Emilie, I hope very much that your life takes a turn for the better. You deserve a good and happy life. Someday if you choose to return to DU, look around for some of the smaller groups to interact with. People in that setting will come to know you personally, and if you have another crisis they will be more inclined to hear you out without judgment.
