(30,439 posts)I'm not saying Bin Laden wasn't behind it, but someone claiming credit for a crime doesn't necessarily mean they did it. Also, just because a lot of people believe something to be true, it doesn't mean it is.
I think what opened the Pandora's Box to the conspiracy theorists was the immediate aftermath of 911 and the Bush Administration is responsible for the conspiracies floating around IMO. They pointed the finger at Bin Laden in the immediate aftermath of 911, BEFORE Bin Laden claimed credit.
Well, what evidence was the Bush Administration referring to when they insisted it was him in the immediate aftermath? They connected him to the hijackers almost immediately, before any videos came out where he claimed credit. That was a major mistake IMO. The Bush Administration should have kept their mouths shut about who done it until it was the right time to say so.
