I wonder how much "Sesame Street" you watched when you were younger.
As for me, I watched it for 4 years after it first started and they started carrying a public television channel here in 1969 or 1970.

And I watched "Electric Company" after the Sesame Street program.
I even remember Easy Reader, and how his being cool about reading influenced all of the kids I was babysitting at the time.
A lot of them went on to learn to love reading, and many of them graduated from college as a result of Morgan Freeman being that character on tv for children's programming!!
I'll bet he doesn't even realize the full impact of playing that character.

And if I remember correctly, funding was provided by some grant from a station in Boston, Massachusetts, WBCH or something like that.

I particularly liked The Count, myself.
