The webarchive.org link does work for many thing, though.
Saw your ATA post. Guess DU ran out of space to host the archives. Glad that was still there. I agree so much with what was going on then.
But didn't join as I was busy on a board created during the counting in Florida. It was a daily account of the stolen election of 2000 through the Selection of Bush by the SCOTUS and beyond.
Then it went into resisting the rightwingers and like DU, it was trolled relentlessly. It fell apart over the Clinton-Obama primaries and went offline in 2008 as the web host shut them all down.
Other affiliated boards began to go dead. Many Democrats walked away when Obama was elected as they thought he'd fix everything, although he begged people to go local and change things from the grassroots up.
In 2010 not a few Democrats fell into Infowars territory and the rest is history.
