I've launched a petition calling on Obama to protect the rights of citizens to record cops in public [View all]

Some of you might know my background. I am a journalist who's been arrested three times in the last five years for recording cops in public.

I also run a blog called Photography is Not a Crime where I document these ongoing abuses throughout the country.

Yesterday, I discovered the Obama Administration encourages citizens to create and circulate petitions to call the president's attention to certain issues.

I need to get a total of 25,000 signatures within 30 days in order for the administration to review the petition. Right how, we have 234 signatures. I launched it last night at 10 pm EST.

Here is the petition.

Here is the blog post with more background.

This is not about me. This is about everybody.
