In reply to the discussion: Hillary Clinton can not beat Jeb Bush [View all]CoffeeCat
(24,411 posts)At least 30 percent of our party (the base of liberals/Progressives) are not enthused about Hillary as our nominee.
The base is the stalwart faction of our party that votes--but also volunteers during campaign season. I see flat interest in both voting and volunteering. She just won't galvanize our party like Obama or Howard Dean did.
Republicans hate her.
I just don't see her appealing to Independents.
In Presidential elections--if both parties elect viable candidate that invigorate their respective bases--the Independents decide the election. Usually, this is the way that most elections go.
With Clinton as our nominee, we'll have an underwhelmed base and a candidate who does not appeal to Independents.
I really think it's a recipe for a big loss.
Just look at 2008. Clinton was the inevitable candidate. All it took was a junior Senator to knock her off. It doesn't take much, because so many in our party want something different, something new.
I find her inevitability this time around--depressing.
