4. I knew very well in 2008 that the two front runners were unrepentant corporatists

Obama was better on the Iraq war, and Clinton was better on health care. I chose to back Obama because of his vastly superior campaign organization. He knew how to use social media to generate self-starting local campaign organizations and hired actual organizers, while Clinton wasted huge sums on bullshitting consultants and focus groups and was not able to handle internal campaign conflicts. She campaigned as if it were still 1996.

Meanwhile, Clinton probably learned things from her experience. Also, some of the people who worked with Obama are now working with Clinton. That makes for a better possible outcome next year. She's still tone-deaf and knows little about the lives of the 99%, but she could work on that. She may get more aggressively populist on the campaign trail, which may or may not translate into effective policy.

Overall, Obama's tendency to seek common ground with everyone works very well in the area of foreign policy, but is unhelpful when dealing with the sociopaths that Republicans have become. Clinton would have dealt more effectively with Republicans, but would have been far more militaristic in foreign affairs.
