DU is a (very tiny) microcosm of the world. I find it fascinating that in a thread full of women, gays, clued in whites and black people saying we are sick and tired of the sleight of hand crap from this OP, there is a group absolutely DETERMINED to minimize what we're saying and accuse us "race baiting" and being "apologists" -- what the fuck any of us is "apologizing" for is truly the question. If anyone is being an "apologist" it's the folks crawling out of the woodwork to stake their claim in support of a poster that has a long and well documented history of dismissing and pissing off minorities -- hardly a stance I'd want to be making anywhere and particularly on a Democratic web site.

But if that's where they wish to stake their claim, so be it. They're not the first and sure as hell won't be the last to try and tell minorities to shut up and that we are simply "misunderstanding" someone's regular and repeated dog whistles. I actually suggested upthread to 1SBM that he stop trying to draw attention to this poster's history because his fans won't care. But now I'm glad that he and a whooooooole bunch of other people didn't.
