(8,646 posts)With my first I had a c-section, it was 90 degrees (no air conditioning where I was living - either in our home or the hospital) and my lower body blew up. I was puffy before but afterwards I had to get a pair of men's sandals to wear. I stayed puffy for 2 weeks or so afterward. My next was also born in the summer. While I felt fabulous (no c-section, went home less than 12 hours later) I was still all blown up. My other 2 kids were mercifully born in early spring when it was still very cold here. Not as much swelling, thankfully, even though both were c-sections. with my last birth, I was in my pre-pregnancy jeans in 8 days. Had I not had a c-section, I probably could've pulled off some heels. But my face looked like death. I lost a lot of blood and had 2 black eyes for a week. Every birth is so different.
Kate does look great. I agree, I like a little bit of frippery now and then. And babies! I can always make time for looking at adorable babies. Good luck to the second time parents!
