I keep looking at some of these lovely CON men who are so anxious to assert for themselves all the sovereignty and mastery of OUR bodies, NOT their own bodies, mind you, but OUR bodies, and wonder - "how would YOU feel if YOU had to squeeze a watermelon-size mass out of that little bitty hole?" And some of you hardliners would even deny us anesthesia or spinal blocks or other pain relief - because as women you believe it's our cross to bear, to atone for the Sins of Eve. We're SUPPOSED to have pain. And I suppose we're supposed to like it, too, because it's our lot in life and it's what we deserve - daughters of Eve that we are.
I remember when I was pregnant, reading that shit. Realizing that there were actual forces in this country who fought to deny women any pain relief during labor, be it epidural or anything taken orally. We women did not deserve such relief, they argued. It was what God said we were doomed to have to endure - because of the Sins of Eve. FORCRYINGOUTLOUD!!!! And that was relatively recent in modern times. Like back in the 1800s and early 1900s. As soon as pain relieving options were available, there were assholes fighting to prevent our access to them.
