royal offspring. Seems up til this new generation it's usually been four. I remember "Charles Phillip Arthur George" when Charles and Diana got married. I remember Diana messed it up at their wedding - making her marriage vows to "Phillip Charles Arthur George."

Elizabeth II's grandfather, George the Fifth, was George Frederick Ernest Albert (3 June 1865 – 20 January 1936).
Her dad, George the Sixth, was Albert Frederick Arthur George (14 December 1895 – 6 February 1952).
His rather notorious brother Edward the Eighth, who was king for less than a year before abdicating to marry his divorced American girlfriend Wallis Simpson, had quite a boatload of names (well, those given names, not what some of his subjects probably snarled at him under their breath)! Seven! (Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David (23 June 1894 – 28 May 1972).
Elizabeth the Second, the current queen, however, has three names: Elizabeth Alexandra Mary (born 21 April 1926).
As for Queen Elizabeth's kids -
Charles has four names. Charles Philip Arthur George (born 14 November 1948).
His sister Anne has four names - Anne Elizabeth Alice Louise (born 15 August 1950).
Prince Andrew has four names - Andrew Albert Christian Edward (born 19 February 1960).
Prince Edward has four names - Edward Antony Richard Louis (born 10 March 1964).
And as for Charles' two boys -
Prince William has four names - William Arthur Philip Louis (born 21 June 1982).
Prince Harry has four names also - Henry Charles Albert David (born 15 September 1984).
But both of William's kids have three names -
Little Prince George is George Alexander Louis (born 22 July 2013).
And now, baby Princess Charlotte is Charlotte Elizabeth Diana (born 2 May 2015).

I don't know whether there's an homage being paid to Queen Elizabeth with her three names or whether it's just Mom and Dad's choice. But all the royals' multiple names appear to invoke earlier royal relatives. Royal convention, I suppose. You probably won't see a Princess Tiffany or Jessica or Jennifer or even Apple, nor are you likely to see a Prince Axl or Justin or Ace or Moses. LOL
