what gun legislation that has been introduced would have reduced the number of guns in this country? Please bear in mind SCOTUS decisions that declare the right to bear arms as an individual right.

The goal is not to reduce the number of guns--it's to reduce the number of people with access to them. And yes, background checks and mental health screens are entirely constitutional.

What constitutional federal gun control legislation would have made James Holmes purchase of guns used in the theater shooting, illegal?

Bans on high-capacity magazines like the hundred round drum he had attached to his weapon.

Effective gun control is impossible without changing the constitution and that's impossible. Yes, I'm for extending background checks and registration, but those aren't politically likely either.

Sorry, I'm not going to let someone who seriously thinks Sanders has a shot in the general election tell me meaningful gun control legislation is impossible.
