My 2 cents on Obama's support for Gay Marriage: [View all]

The President's support for equal rights for all Americans aka support of
the right for gay people to get married will not hurt the President one bit
in his campaign for re-election. Anybody who is a one issue voter over
gay marriage was not going to vote for Obama anyway. Because they are
no doubt religious right fundy haters* who did not support the President in the
past and would not have supported him this fall either. And as per "the story"
that Ohio '04 was lost to Kerry because of the turn out of "values voters" who
were worried about gay marriage that was just a Karl Rove produced cover
story to obscure the fact that W bush got Ohio 2004 by cheating but the media
was more than willing to push it 24/7 even though many people in the media
knew that exit polls had John Kerry winning by a comfortable margin.

* and yes there is a segment of the African American population that is very
anti-gay but that is dwarfed by the overwhelming #s of people of color
(Christian or not) who are thrilled with having an African American as President.

The President did the right thing and those who argue against what he did are
@ their very core anti American because EVERYBODY is covered under the equal
protection clause of the 14 the amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

"no state shall ... deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws."
