(114,904 posts)there is no reason to set up hedge funds in the Cayman Islands but to limit tax liability and make money by helping other investors limit their tax liabiliity.
The author wasn't there but he claims that Grayson "undoubtedly tried to explain"....? That's piss poor journalism right there.
Grayson repeatedly attacks others for the EXACT same thing he is done. Precisely the same. And this?
"Both the SEC and the IRS have approved this setup, because it prevents foreign investors, charities and others who were never intended to be taxed in the United States from inadvertently getting tangled up in IRS bureaucracy, when they dont owe any taxes under US law."
What a crock. These are loopholes- loopholes that Grayson advocates closing. And if someone doesn't owe taxes under U.S. law, it's crap to say that they need to shield that income.
What Grayson is doing may not be illegal but it's sleazy as hell. If he didn't intend to solicit any foreign investors why the fuck set this up in the first place?
There's more, but what I want to know is if Grayson is the titular manager of these funds.
I think Grayson is just another John Edwards phony. I was right about JE and got endless shit for it here.
The author of this piece does nothing to make Grayson look any better because there is no way to make these actions look anything but hypocritical and sleazy.
