How many LGBT people are going to take any such group seriously if they belong to the GOP? No matter what they do, no matter what court cases they support, that they belong to an vehemently homophobic party is always going to mark their foreheads. Which doesn't make the group credible and, therefore, doesn't make them able to create a wedge.

The GOP does better with Palin who connects to women with five kids. SHE can create a wedge between women and democrats by saying she represents women that the democrats don't represent because Dems don't have a seemingly down-home woman with five kids as their spokeswoman. But the Log Cabin Republicans? What do they have that can connect with LGBT that overshadows the homophobia of the party they belong to?

Until they do have something or someone that does that, I can't take seriously the idea of them existing as a wedge. I think they exist only because they've got psychologic problems.
