54. Question about "the good fight"

I have, very occasionally, lent a helping hand, as you urge people to do. In general, though, I don't see it as "fighting the good fight." My bottom line is: Does it really matter what the bottom line of a Discussionist thread is? If some RWNJs post drivel, and progressives from DU go over there and refute it, I'm not sure how much has been accomplished.

This isn't to derogate your efforts. I admire anyone who devotes time and energy to volunteer work with no personal payoff. I'm just curious about what you think is good about this fight. For example, have you seen evidence that anyone's mind has been changed -- about anything -- by a Discussionist discussion?
