(39,215 posts)21. I know where the F/D balls came from but they have new purpose today. A lot of fathers do not
live with their children due to custody decisions. Many of the fathers are single fathers who do not have a lot of interaction with their children - especially their daughters because there is not much for them to do together - at least nothing this big. My grandsons take several children who are members of a single mother family along with their own girls. We have a long history of stepping in to help a child in the family who does not have a father. As to the boys they take one look at their fathers duded up in a tux and say "yuk" we don't want to go to that ball.
But I do agree with you that their religious framing is just plain sick.
