2. My second home when I was a teenager

I lived and went to school in Barcelona for a while. Lived with a Catalan family and learned to speak the language. Even today they freak when I'm there, just can't believe there's "un americà qui parla català."

The Catalans have always had a proud, independent, non-conformist streak to them. It's no accident their signature artist was Salvador (do NOT pronounce the final "r&quot Dalí.

I still get down there every six to eight weeks (will be there again next week). Even after all this time, it's like a déjà vu homecoming.
